Weegar recorded two assists and two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Blues.
Weegar had three helpers over the last three games of the regular season. The 32-year-old defenseman has seen steady top-four minutes since he was traded to the Mammoth from the Flames, but his scoring production has been roughly equal on a per-game basis. He finished the season with four goals, 28 points, 154 shots on net, 167 hits, 175 blocked shots, 88 PIM and a minus-33 rating over 79 appearances. Weegar will look to be a strong shutdown blueliner as he faces former Calgary teammate Rasmus Andersson and the Golden Knights in the first round of the playoffs.

Mammoth's MacKenzie Weegar: Plucks apple in loss
Weegar notched an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and three blocked shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Flames.
Weegar was able to get on the scoresheet in his first game back in Calgary since he was dealt to Utah. The defenseman missed a game due to an upper-body injury earlier in April, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he got rested for one or both of the Mammoth's last two contests before the playoffs. In 77 outings between the Flames and the Mammoth this season, he has four goals, 22 helpers, 153 shots on net, 166 hits, 173 blocked shots, 84 PIM and a minus-32 rating.

Weegar is an acquisition that suggests the Mammoth think they can make a run. He'll bolster their defense with strong all-around play, and his fantasy outlook should get a boost from playing in a better offense. Weegar is best for hits and blocked shots, but it's unclear if he'll maintain a power-play role with the Mammoth, as Mikhail Sergachev has been on the first unit and Sean Durzi typically plays on the second. Expect Weegar to see top-four minutes at even strength, though he won't be able to join the team immediately, instead missing 4-10 days while waiting for his visa paperwork to be approved, per Cole Bagley of KSL Sports. That means he's likely to miss the Mammoth's next two games at a minimum.

This has been a season to forget for Weegar, who is now at 17 points with 121 shots, 123 hits, 125 blocks, 65 PIM and a minus-31 rating over 54 appearances. He's currently on the first power-play unit, but don't be surprised if Zayne Parekh or Hunter Brzustewicz take over that role by the end of the campaign. Weegar's lack of offense has been tough to handle in fantasy, but his non-scoring production has at least raised his floor a bit.
