Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Rejoining rotation Thursday
Sproat (knee) will start against the Blue Jays on Thursday, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
The right-hander picked up a knee injury during his relief outing Saturday against Washington, which was his best showing of the campaign with one run allowed on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings, but he checked out fine when evaluated Sunday. Sproat will re-enter the rotation Thursday and will likely need another decent showing to solidify his place in Milwaukee's starting five.

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Knee checks out okay
Sproat underwent an examination on his right knee that came back clean Sunday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Sproat landed awkwardly on his right knee on a diving attempt to field a grounder hit by Nationals second baseman Nasim Nunez in the top of the seventh inning Saturday, but he appears to have avoided a long-term injury. The right-hander entered the contest out of the bullpen, delivering 3.2 innings of one-run ball while allowing four hits and three walks. It's unclear if Sproat's next outing will come as a starter or out of the pen again, but the fact that he's healthy is good news.

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: May have knee injury
Sproat is getting his knee examined following his relief appearance Saturday versus the Nationals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. In the outing, he tossed 3.2 innings and allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out three batters.
Sproat was pretty wild Saturday, tossing just 38 of 65 pitches for strikes and issuing three free passes. However, he escaped with only one run his ledger. The right-hander entered in the sixth frame after starting his first game of the campaign and working as an opener in his second. It's not clear how or when the potential knee issue cropped up, but both Sproat and Saturday's starter Kyle Harrison were slated for knee exams following the loss, according to manager Pat Murphy. Results of those tests should provide clarity about whether either hurler is in danger of missing time.

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: No longer starting this weekend
Sproat is no longer listed among the Brewers' scheduled starters for this weekend's series versus the Nationals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Sproat's turn had been slated to come up Saturday, but the Brewers will push Kyle Harrison and Brandon Woodruff each up to start the final two games of the series. Following a miserable 2026 debut last weekend when he allowed seven runs against the White Sox, Sproat didn't fare much better in his second appearance. The right-hander struggled to find the plate, throwing just 39 of his 70 offerings for strikes before being chased from the outing in the sixth inning. The Brewers elected to use Sproat after an opener Saturday, so it remains to be seen how he'll be deployed going forward. He's tentatively slated for a generally favorable matchup versus the Nationals next weekend, if he sticks in the rotation.

Sproat proceeded to yield three more runs over the next two frames (including two solo homers) and was lifted before the start of the fourth inning. Sproat avoided the loss thanks to the Brewers' six-run rally in the eighth, but it was a disastrous 2026 debut for the 25-year-old right-hander. He nabbed a spot in the Brewers' rotation due to Quinn Priester (wrist) starting the season on the 15-day injured list, but outings like Sunday's may put Sproat on thin ice. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is tentatively slated for next weekend on the road against the Royals.

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Dealt to Milwaukee
The Mets traded Sproat and Jett Williams to the Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Sproat broke into the majors toward the end of the 2025 season, posting a 4.79 ERA and 1.21 WHIP to go with a 17:7 K:BB over 20.2 innings (four starts) with the Mets.
