Malik Davis DAL RB
Cowboys' Malik Davis: Appears to be in lead for RB2 job
32m agoAt this stage, Davis appears to be the front-runner for the Cowboys' No. 2 running back job, Tommy Yarrish of the team's official site reports.
Calf and eye issues resulted in Davis being placed on IR ahead of Week 18 action last season. However, the ensuing offseason afforded the 27-year-old time to recover, and the Florida product will now look to secure backfield slotting behind top option Javonte Williams, who recorded a career-high 252 carries during the 2025 regular season. While working behind Williams in that span, Davis recorded 52 carries for 250 yards and two touchdowns, as well as two catches (on five targets) for 16 yards in 10 contests. Should Davis maintain his standing as Williams' top backup he'd carry fantasy value as an insurance policy, but Yarrish points out that Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah could compete for the job ahead of the 2026 campaign, making this a situation to monitor in the coming months.

Alvin Kamara NO RB
Saints' Alvin Kamara: Shows up for OTAs
1h agoSaints head coach Kellen Moore said Wednesday that Kamara (knee/ankle) is attending voluntary OTAs on Wednesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Kamara didn't attend New Orleans' voluntary practices throughout the month of May, instead working out on a daily basis with his personal trainers, but the veteran running back has now returned to team facilities. Moore said he isn't sure whether Kamara has spoken with the team regarding his current contract situation, per Triplett. He carries a $10.4 million cap hit for 2026 and the Saints inked Travis Etienne to a four-year, $48 million deal in March, leading to speculation that Kamara -- who sat out final six contests of the 2025 campaign due to both an MCL sprain and an ankle issue and finished the year with a career-low 471 rushing yards -- could be a trade candidate. However, Kamara has previously hinted that he wants to either play for the Saints or retire. Moore said Kamara will be on the practice field in some capacity Wednesday, per Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana.

Justin Herbert LAC QB
Chargers' Justin Herbert: Focused on improving footwork
1h agoHerbert said Tuesday that a priority during OTAs has been to overhaul his footwork under the direction of new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, Kris Rhim of ESPN reports.
Herbert said for each of the next few weeks he expects to dedicate one day to footwork and throwing-motion drills, with the goal of speeding up his release. Under McDaniel's new offensive scheme, Herbert said an early emphasis has been "just getting the ball out as quick as possible" rather than relying on his arm strength, in order to allow his pass-catchers "maximum ability to turn upfield and have time before a defender gets to them" and accumulate yards after the catch. That shift will play to the strengths of the Chargers' athletic skill-position group, led by playmakers like RB Omarion Hampton, WRs Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, and TEs Oronde Gadsden and David Njoku, and help reduce some of the attrition Herbert faced as the most pressured quarterback in the NFL last season. Offensive tackles Rashawn Slater (kneecap) and Joe Alt (ankle) are both expected to be cleared for training camp as well, so there are multiple reasons to be optimistic that Los Angeles' offense will take a productive step forward in 2026, with Herbert being a focal beneficiary of McDaniel's creative playcalling.

Marvin Harrison Jr. ARI WR
Cardinals' Marvin Harrison: Still working back to full health
1h agoHarrison said Tuesday that he is not yet 100 percent recovered from the injuries he dealt with in 2025 but that he doesn't "think it's going to linger into next season, for sure," Josh Weinfuss of ESPN reports.
Harrison dealt with a number of health issues in 2025, including two heel injuries, a concussion and appendicitis, missing a total of five games spread across the course of the regular season. While the 23-year-old said getting back to full health is "an ongoing process still," he also confirmed that "it's nothing that prevents me from doing anything at the moment" during OTAs. Harrison also stated that health will be his priority this offseason, though a number of other factors will demand his attention as he works to manifest a potential Year 3 leap. In addition to learning a new offense under head coach Mike LaFleur, who per Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic said Tuesday that Harrison's role will be as the team's X-receiver in 2026 , the 2024 first-round pick will need to build chemistry with a trio of QBs in Jacoby Brissett (holding out), Gardner Minshew and rookie third-rounder Carson Beck with Kyler Murray having moved on.

Joe Alt LAC OT
Chargers' Joe Alt: Announces injury update
15h agoAlt (ankle) said Wednesday that he doesn't expect his injured ankle to be a problem for training camp, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports.
Alt is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle injury suffered last season. The 23-year-old has been getting reps in practice every day and will resume his role as the Chargers' starting right tackle once healthy.
-
Rashawn Slater LAC OT
Chargers' Rashawn Slater: Should return for training camp
15h agoSlater (kneecap) said Wednesday that he should be cleared for training camp, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports.
Slater is closer to returning from the knee injury that forced him to miss the entirety of the 2025 campaign. Once healthy, the 27-year-old should resume his role as the Chargers' starting left tackle.

Mark Vientos NYM 1B
Mets' Mark Vientos: Sitting again Wednesday
9m agoVientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Vientos will head to the bench for the second time in the three-game series with Seattle while he's mired in extended slump at the dish. Over his last 12 games, Vientos has slashed .146/.167/.244 while drawing no walks and striking out at a 26.2 percent clip. The Mets will go with Jared Young at first base in place of Vientos on Wednesday.

Joey Gerber NYM RP
Mets' Joey Gerber: Moves up from Triple-A
12m agoThe Mets recalled Gerber from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.
New York will bring Gerber aboard to give the bullpen a fresh right-handed arm heading into Wednesday's series finale in Seattle. The Mets optioned right-hander Jonah Tong to Triple-A to make room on the active roster for Gerber, who previously struck out five batters over a two-inning appearance in his lone outing of the season at the big-league level back on April 13.

Noah Schultz CHW SP
White Sox's Noah Schultz: Not ready for mound work yet
15m agoWhite Sox manager Will Venable said Wednesday that Schultz (knee) remains sore and is not ready to throw a bullpen session, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
He's able to throw on flat ground, but the right patellar tendinitis that sent Schultz to the 15-day injured list last week is still keeping the rookie southpaw away from the mound. Schultz is eligible for activation next week, but it seems unlikely he'll be ready by then, which could allow an additional start for David Sandlin.

Noelvi Marte CIN RF
Reds' Noelvi Marte: Recalled to Cincinnati
19m agoThe Reds recalled Marte from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday
Marte will rejoin Cincinnati after being optioned to Triple-A on April 13. In 160 at-bats in the minors, the 24-year-old was slashing a scorching hot .369/.409/.575 with eight home runs. To make room for Marte on the big-league club, TJ Friedl was optioned to Louisville.
-
TJ Friedl CIN CF
Reds' TJ Friedl: Handed demotion to Triple-A
19m agoThe Reds optioned Friedl to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Friedl posted a .742 OPS while serving as the Reds' primary leadoff man in 2025, but he's seen his productivity at the dish crater this season. The 30-year-old has slashed a lowly .179/.259/.256 over 178 plate appearances so far in 2026, with his struggles resulting in the Reds scaling back his playing time in mid-May and dropping him down to the bottom of the lineup during his starts. After holding Friedl out of the starting nine for the last three games, the Reds have now decided to send him back to Louisville with the hope that he return to form while getting the chance to play on an everyday basis. Cincinnati recalled Noelvi Marte from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Josh Naylor SEA 1B
Mariners' Josh Naylor: Back in lineup Wednesday
31m agoNaylor (back) will start at first base and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Naylor will make his return to the starting nine after he exited with back spasms in Monday's series opener and then sat out Tuesday's 8-3 win. The Mariners will hope that the brief absence won't disrupt Naylor's rhythm at the plate; over his last eight games, the 28-year-old has gone 10-for-33 (.303 average).

Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Expected to play
36m agoRobinson (finger) is expected to play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Spurs on Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Iffy for Game 1
19h agoRobinson (finger) is questionable for Wednesday's Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Spurs, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
Robinson sustained a broken right pinky finger Thursday and underwent surgery, though he participated in Tuesday's practice and was seen shooting with the injured hand, according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic. Shams Charania of ESPN reported Friday that the big man is pushing to play in Game 1, and the Knicks will likely evaluate him closer to tipoff before making a final decision on his status. If Robinson is unable to suit up, Ariel Hukporti and Mohamed Diawara would be candidates to enter the rotation behind Karl-Anthony Towns.

Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Limited during Sunday's practice
3d agoHead coach Mike Brown said Robinson (finger) was limited to individual work in Sunday's practice, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
Robinson was diagnosed with a broken right pinky finger Thursday and underwent surgery shortly thereafter. Shams Charania of ESPN reported Friday that the big man intends to play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Spurs on Wednesday, though he's expected to wear a protective brace on his hand moving forward. The Knicks are expected to provide an update on his status by Tuesday night at the latest.

Nikola Topic OKC PG
Thunder's Nikola Topic: Logs DNP in season-ending loss
3d agoTopic did not see the floor in Saturday's 111-103 loss to the Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
Topic appeared in nine games this postseason, though he never logged more than six garbage-time minutes. The 20-year-old missed the entire 2024-25 season due to a partial ACL tear in his left knee that required surgery. He returned to action during the 2025 Summer League but was later diagnosed with testicular cancer after making one preseason appearance. Topic ultimately made his NBA regular-season debut Feb. 12 and averaged 5.2 points, 4.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per showing across 10 regular-season games (two starts) in 2025-26.

Isaiah Joe OKC SG
Thunder's Isaiah Joe: Doesn't see floor in Game 7 loss
3d agoJoe did not see the floor in Saturday's 111-103 loss to the Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
Although Jalen Williams (hamstring) and Ajay Mitchell (calf) were both unavailable, Joe's inconsistent postseason ended with a DNP-CD in Saturday's do-or-die matchup. The 26-year-old wing made 12 appearances this postseason, during which he averaged 5.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 11.9 minutes per contest. He's under contract for the 2026-27 campaign, and the Thunder hold a team option for 2027-28. Despite his playoff inconsistencies, Joe largely provided a spark off the bench during his fourth season with the Thunder in 2025-26, averaging a career-high 11.1 points along with 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 42.3 percent from downtown in 21.2 minutes per game across 71 regular-season outings (nine starts).

Jared McCain OKC SG
Thunder's Jared McCain: Provides spark off bench in Game 7
3d agoMcCain accumulated 12 points (5-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt), one rebound and one steal in 23 minutes during Saturday's 111-103 loss to the Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
With Cason Wallace stepping into the starting five for Saturday's do-or-die matchup, McCain came off the bench after making two consecutive starts. The 22-year-old guard didn't deliver his most efficient performance, though he still tied the bench high in points and scored in double figures for a third straight game. The Duke product was traded from Philadelphia to Oklahoma City in February after an injury-plagued start to his career that included surgery to repair a torn meniscus in December 2024 and thumb surgery last September. He appeared in 30 regular-season outings (two starts) for the Thunder, averaging 10.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.8 triples and 0.9 assists while shooting 39.1 percent from downtown in 17.9 minutes per contest during that span. He figures to maintain a meaningful bench role for the Thunder in 2026-27.
